Frequently Asked Questions
These are the questions people ask most about Transposo; if yours is missing, write to transposoapp@gmail.com.
How do I enter notes?
Use the keypad under the notes field. Pick a duration first (it stays selected), then tap a note. Tap # or b before a note for a sharp or flat, and + or - for a higher or lower octave; tap + or - twice for two octaves. Backspace removes the whole last note, and Clear all empties the field.
What do the numbers and symbols in the notes mean?
Each note looks like C#+:0.5: the note name, optional # or b, optional octave marks, then a colon and the length in quarter-note beats. So 4 is a whole note, 2 a half, 1 a quarter, 0.5 an eighth and 0.25 a sixteenth. Without a length, a note counts as one beat. + and - move the note one octave up or down from the octave that starts at middle C.
Which instruments are supported?
Instruments are grouped by key: C (piano, flute, violin, guitar), B flat (trumpet, clarinet, soprano and tenor sax), E flat (alto and baritone sax) and F (French horn). Choose the instrument the music is written for and the one you want it written for, and tap the swap button to reverse them.
How does photo scanning work, and what happens to my photo?
Tap Camera or Gallery, and the photo is sent to Google's Gemini through Transposo's service to read the notes and the time signature. The notes then appear in the notes field so you can check and fix them before transposing. We do not store your photo; the full details are in the Privacy Policy. The first time you scan, the app asks for your permission.
The scan got some notes wrong. What can I do?
The AI can misread messy or angled pages. Take the photo straight on, in good light, with one system of music filling the frame, and correct any mistakes in the notes field before transposing. Rests are not supported by the keypad yet.
How many scans do I get?
The free version gives you 2 scans a day, and each rewarded ad you watch adds 1 more for that day. Pro removes the limit. A scan is counted when it is sent, so a cancelled photo costs nothing.
The bar lines look wrong. How do I fix them?
Choose the right time signature in the selector above the keypad. Your notes stay as they are and only the bar lines move. A scanned page sets the time signature automatically, and the app tells you which one it read.
Can I save or share the result?
Yes. Under the sheet, Save as PDF opens your phone's share sheet, and Save to Gallery stores an image in a Transposo album in your photo library. Free exports carry a small "Created with Transposo Free" line, which Pro removes.
Where is my history?
Tap the history icon at the top right. It keeps your last 50 conversions; tap one to restore it, use the rename button to give it a name, and swipe a row to delete it (you can undo straight afterwards).
Does it work without internet?
Transposing and the sheet view work offline. Scanning, ads and purchases need a connection.
How do I cancel Pro or get it back?
Cancel in your Google Play or Apple App Store subscription settings, because deleting the app does not cancel it. On a new phone or after reinstalling, open the paywall and tap Restore purchases.
The paywall says the plans are unavailable.
The store could not be reached. Check your connection and tap Try again; Restore purchases stays available meanwhile.
